Our Name - Church of the Cross
The name of our community merits a word of explanation as it points to some key elements of who we are. The cross is the central event of the biblical story and it is at the heart of the good news that Christians celebrate. There are three aspects of the cross that we hope our name will keep in the forefront of our minds:

1. The cross reveals God as a God of self-giving, sacrificial love who has given himself for his creation. THIS is the God we worship.
2. The cross enables us to be forgiven and to be made children of God. THIS is the message we proclaim - in word and deed.
3. The cross gives us a model for life that is not self-seeking but is defined by self-giving, sacrificial love. THIS is the life we seek to live.
