Join us for our Good Friday worship service. Plan to stay after and walk through the Stations of the Cross. Each station was created by a Neighborhood Group or individual at CotC. Guides are provided. We arrive for and depart this service in silence. Nursery is provided for children 4 and under. Older children are welcome in the service (which will last about an hour).
Join us for our Easter Vigil. The long wait is over! Beginning in silence and darkness, we bring an end to our observance of Lent and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and his ultimate victory over death. This 3.5 hour service includes a choir, original music compositions, poetry, a visual art installation, Scripture readings that outline the history of our salvation, an opportunity to reaffirm our baptismal vows, and the celebration of Holy Communion. It's our most creative worship service of the year. Followed by a dessert reception (Easter feast #1) that will last well past midnight! No childcare. We encourage parents to get a babysitter and join us or to bring your kids along (especially the older ones) and let them enjoy the richness and creativity of this service!
Join us for our Easter worship service at Boston Temple followed by a potluck Easter feast (Easter feast #2). Note that the start time is half an hour later than usual! We'll have several baptisms in the service. This is a celebratory morning filled with 'alleluias' as we rejoice in the resurrection of Jesus. Children's program and nursery are provided. There is no evening service on Easter Sunday.
Our day retreat provides our community—from both the morning and evening service—a wonderful time to be together. We'll have time with God (alone and together) and time building relationships with one another.
Children and families are especially welcome. We'll have a program for the kids and childcare for the younger ones.
The retreat will take place from 8:30am to 5:00pm at Glastonbury Abbey in Hingham, MA, just a 40-minute drive from Boston. Rides are available. Cost is $20. We'd love to have you join us.
Join us at Boston Temple (105 Jersey Street, 02215) for worship as we begin the 40-day season of Lent together. During this penitential service, we reflect on our mortality and our sinfulness. The service includes the imposition of ashes on our foreheads.
Nursery will be provided for the younger children. Older children are encouraged to join us in the service.
Join us for a combined service at 10.30am at 105 Jersey St. where we will welcome our newest members through our Sunday liturgy.
Our worship service will be followed by our annual parish meeting over a shared lunch. All are encouraged to attend.
There will be no evening service this Sunday.
Our Newcomers' Dinner provides a helpful way to get to know more about our community, our mission, and our vision. We gather at our pastor's home in Jamaica Plain for a casual dinner with the pastor and others from the community. The hope is that you walk away with a better sense of who we are and of what it would look like for you to become a part of this community. There are no strings attached—just come and enjoy the evening! Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Join us at our pastor's home in Jamaica Plain for our Foundations Group. This is a 12-week group where we will delve into the foundations of the Christian life and understand how those are lived out in our community, as an Anglican church in Boston. This group will also have elements of a Neighborhood group: a place to build relationships, share your story, ask questions, pray, and grow with others.
Our time together will feature teaching and discussion around the gospel (i.e. biblical story), conversion, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, the Ten Commandments, the sacraments, Anglicanism, community, mission, and worship/liturgy. The discussions are grounded in Scripture, and we'll also have some supplemental readings between sessions to strengthen our discussion and reinforce understanding.
Join us for our Lessons and Carols service in which we will use nine lessons from Scripture to tell the story leading up to and including the birth of Jesus. We will also sing numerous songs/carols together. We will not have our regular children’s program, but will offer nursery for children through age 5. There will be no morning service this Sunday.
