Wednesday: Psalm 24-25 & Luke 9:1-27

From Nick Sarantopoulos

"The earth is the Lord's and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it" Psalm 24:1
"And he called the twelve together and he gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal." Luke 9:1-2

The Psalm for this day reminds us that the Lord has full authority over the earth and the world and all who live in it. Everything is His. We are His.
Luke tells us that Jesus delegates to His disciples some of that authority to cast out demons and to heal. Not only He delegates that authority, but He commands His disciples and sends them out to fight the spiritual war, to evangelize, and to administer healings with intent and purpose. These are the very same things He is asking us to do today.
As we listen to the word of the Lord who has full power and authority over the world, as we feel His love for us and for the world, as we grow in discipleship, we are being sent out to fight the spiritual war, to proclaim the kingdom of God, and to bring His healing power to more people.
But how do we do those things? Were we ever taught spiritual warfare, evangelism, or healing? Aren't these things above and beyond us?
They are not, according to Luke.
Let's remember that we were taught how to pray with faith, from the heart, and in the spirit. Our prayer is our deepest held belief. We pray with faith and full expectation that our Lord who has authority over the world will cast out demons, will seek and find more people who are lost, and will heal His people. And He may choose to do some of these things through us by the power of the Holy Spirit and through prayer.
Let's meditate on the presence of Lord Jesus today, let's try to see His face, let's try to hear the tone of His voice, let's meditate on the Word as we read Luke, and let's pray together:
Lord, we thank You for this day. We pray for holy expectation to come into all of us Your disciples at the Church of the Cross, that Your angels will come to guide us and show us an open heaven, that You will release the gifts of the Holy Spirit on all Your people, that Your Word will continue to be proclaimed by healings and manifestations of Your spirit. Lord we pray that, in Your mercy, release from the enemy and divine healing will come to every person who has the faith to hold out their hand in front of them as they feel Your presence, for all we are doing is following the commands You gave us through the gospel of our brother Luke. Lord Jesus, in Your name we pray and we love you. Amen.

I work as CEO of a local, not for profit, community credit union. I am someone that the Lord very recently sought and found. I am very grateful to Him and to this community of the Church of the Cross. I look forward to knowing all of you better and to keep growing in discipleship together to carry out His mission as life unfolds.
