Our God is a mighty God. He is King of Kings. Lord of Lords.
The Lord is God,
and he has made his light shine on us.
With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession
up to the horns of the altar.
Looking back at my life thus far, I am amazed by the faithfulness of our Lord to answering what felt like big prayers about family, career, and finances. My husband and I even keep a little notebook where we write down these wonderful answers to prayers and unexpected blessings.
And yet I still find myself filled with anxiety at times wondering if our next big prayer will be answered. Doubting that we are praying for the right things. If my heart is aligned with the Lord's. If I am asking for too much.
Why do I doubt myself? Why do I doubt the love and care that Jesus has for me? For His people? After all, He won the greatest victory of all.
I know I'm not alone in this doubt. I think we try so hard to exert control over our own lives and surroundings that we forget we are not ultimately in control. We think we can will our way into being.
As we enter Holy Week, let us remember why and how much His light shines on us. May we trust in Him more than ever and relinquish our will to His.
