Lenten Scripture Reflection | Wednesday: Psalms 61-62; Malachi 2.17-3.5; Mark 11.27-12.12

From: Heather Madden

When life gets to be too much, when your heart is overwhelmed, where do you go?

David cried out to God. He went to “the rock,” a place of stability and security, something strong enough to stand against crashing waves or quaking earth. David needed “a rock that is higher than I,” a place above himself, above his wisdom and own abilities. We do too. We need to look to God, during those times when our heart is faint, for his wisdom and understanding.

David needed God to lead him to that rock. David was unable, on his own,  to get to the firm-footed place above his own circumstances. He looked to God, who came to his aid.

During those times when we don’t know what to do, God wants us to cry out to him, just as David did. We can depend on him for help in every difficulty.

I enjoy living by the ocean with my husband, Kelly. My days are spent bringing joy to the elderly.
