Sunday: Psalm 63; Nahum 1.6-15; John 12.1-26

From: Karli Riegel

“Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.  If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.”

Talk about being where Jesus is…Mary was with Jesus. So much so, that she was at his feet anointing him with expensive perfume. I can sometimes be a little materialistic, and as I read about Mary pouring this pure nard (I googled and apparently this stuff goes for about $45 an ounce) over Jesus feet, a tiny part of me is thinking, “Oh my goodness, that must’ve cost so much…why is she doing that?” Thankfully, as I think this, my wonderful Savior sweetly interrupts and reminds me that His life costs so much more.

Lord, we pray that we would be so overwhelmed by your love for us that we would never leave your side, that we would constantly and prayerfully be with you and that the trivial cares of this world would fade away so that we can be like Mary…truly in love with her Savior, Jesus Christ.

I live in Cambridge with my husband Bobby and I am anxiously awaiting summer as my Southern Californian bones can’t take winter much longer. I’ve loved hanging out with the Youth Group at CotC this year...they are smart, funny and very good at kicking my butt in capture the flag, freeze tag, and really any other game that involves running or coordination.
