CotC Benevolence Fund Overview
The Church of the Cross has designated a Benevolence Fund to assist those in our church community or those connected to our community who are experiencing urgent and unexpected financial needs, such as food shortage, medical bills, transportation, legal help, etc. All requests by CotC church members/attendees and referrals by them will be considered, as well as requests through our Justice & Mercy leaders and partners.
The maximum disbursement per individual or family per fiscal year (July-June) is $1,000, based upon the availability of funds. Receipts will be kept for all disbursements by Church of the Cross for tax purposes. We cannot approve all requests. For example, no loans will be made, we do not fund storage unit fees, and we cannot provide direct cash payments to applicants.
To request assistance, please complete this form, which will be reviewed confidentially by the Benevolence Team; if you were referred by a church member, we may contact that member for clarification and confirmation. A member of the team will contact the applicant within about two weeks. If you have any concerns or questions when completing this form, or wish to provide any supporting documentation, please email benevolence@cotcboston.org.
Give to the fund: Income for this fund is sustained through individual gifts by congregation members. If you call Church of the Cross your home, please consider supporting members of our church family in this way.
